We offer courses in French, Spanish, and Italian from beginner through advanced levels.

Is there an age requirement for taking courses?

All students must be 18 or older.

Where do classes take place?

La Causerie offers both in person and online classes via Zoom.

In person classes are held on Friday mornings at the Second Presbyterian Church in Kansas City, Mo at 318 E. 55th St.

Online classes are offered on a variety of days and times and include full year (September-May) classes as well as a variety of 8 week courses (one session per semester) in all the languages on a variety of topics.  Keep an eye out on our website for updated class offerings.

When do classes take place?

The full school year runs from early September through mid May.

Our in-person classes are held on Friday mornings between 9am and noon at the church.

We also have a variety of online class offerings that take place on different days and times for anyone that is not available on Friday mornings.

When do new classes start?

Our main courses run from September through May.

We sometimes offer some online 8 week courses on a variety of topics in all three languages.  These mini-masters take place once or twice during the year.

Where can I find information about the classes being offered?

All of our course descriptions can be found on our website at www.lacauserie.org.  Along the top menu, click on ‘Course Information’ and you will find descriptions of all classes currently being offered.

How do I register?

We use an online registration system.  You can access the site via our main webpage.  Along the top menu just click on ‘Register’ to be taken over to the site.  The first time you enroll you will need to create an account to sign in.  All payments are done via credit or debit card directly on the registration site.

Note-if you forget your password on the registration site there is a 'forgot password' option.  The staff at La Causerie has no access to passwords to the registration site.

How do I drop a class?

If you need to drop a class, please send an email to lacauseriefrancaise@gmail.com.

Please title your email with 'dropping' plus the class name.

In the body of your email please include:

First and last name.

Class being dropped.

Full tuition paid.

Reason for dropping.  (This information is very important for us.)

If at any time during a class you need to drop, even if it's outside of the refund window, please let us know.  This helps our teachers and helps us keep our rosters up to date and you won't receive emails about a class that you are not attending.

Are there refunds for dropped classes?

For our Sept-May classes a refund, minus the drop fee of $75 (to cover processing and administration fees) is available until September 30th of each school year.    Refunds are sent out via check by the end of October.

There are no refunds for the 8 week courses, 1 semester courses, or the pro-rated tuition for anyone registering in January for half the year.

Can I join a class late?

Regsitration remains open through September.  After that classes can be joined only with permission from the instructor.  For full term classes, pro-rated tuition is available for anyone enrolling in January for half the year.

What if I miss a class?

Each class offered at La Causerie has its own dedicated webpage.  Here you can find basic info about the class including:  time and location,  instructor, instructor’s email, Zoom link (if the course is online), and all homework for the class.  This is a great way to check in to see any homework if you need to miss a class.
