Labor Day XLV Church Softball Classic Tournament Rules
All players, coaches, and spectators are responsible for any personal injury or accident while in Northwest Park. The City of Kokomo, Parks Department, Northwest Park, nor the Labor Day XLV Church Softball Classic will be responsible for any accident or injury.
No alcoholic beverages on Park property. Any violation will be TEAM disqualification.
Each player that plans to participate in the tournament must be active in a church, which means the person is attending church on a regular basis.
Any player who’s Church has entered the tournament cannot play for any other team.
The following guidelines will be used for picking up players from other churches. This rule is NOT set in “concrete”, but will be used as a guide.
Churches with up to 100 members: 5 pickup players.
Churches with 101 to 200 members: 3 pickup players.
Churches with 201 or more members: 0 pickup players.
All “pickup players” will be allowed at the discretion of the tournament director.
All potential players must be listed on the roster. Not listed, not playing.
The pastor’s signature on the roster sheet will serve as confirmation that the player regularly attends their church listed on the roster.
All players should wear numbered shirts.
Roster deadline is August 20th 2022. No changes will be permitted after this date unless tournament director is notified and permission is granted.
ASA Rules will be in effect.
Appropriate balls will be provided this year. (52/300)
Coaches must sign in their team upon arrival at the park.
No steel cleats. Violators will be asked to change their cleats or be removed from the lineup.
This year (2022) we will be testing bats, therefore any currently legal bat, from other associations will be allowed, as long as it passes the compression test. Bats will be marked and umpires will check bats before each game. Please allow ample time to have your bats tested before your first game. Violators will have their bat confiscated for the rest of the tournament. Find one of the Tournament Directors or the Head Umpire for questions about an illegal bat, but DO NOT stop the game to find us. See Larry Miller after the tournament is over to have your bat returned to you.
No infield warm-up or batting practice on the diamonds.
Coaches turn in your lineup card with player’s full name and number 15 minutes before game time, to official scorekeeper located behind home plate.
Coin toss to determine home team.
1 Hour time limit only for pool play games.
Home team is responsible for prayer.
1 & 1 count no free foul.
1 courtesy runners per inning.
Pool Play, 2 HR's then an out; Tournaments: Men's Upper Division, 4 HR's then an out; Men's Lower Division, 2 HR's than an out; Coed 4 HR's.
No protests allowed. Umpires decision is final.
Any player or coach ejected from a game will automatically sit out their team’s next game. This means they will observe the game from the bleachers, not the team bench.
Run Rule: 20 after 3 innings, 15 after 4 innings, 10 after 5 innings.
Games will start as scheduled or 5 minutes after the completion of the prior game. There is no forfeit time.
In the event of rain, the tournament format may be changed to a format that completes the tournament on Monday.
