Enrico Lia was born in Araraquara (Brazil) in 1970. He received the Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering from the Instituto Nacional de Telecomunicaçoes (INATEL), in 2001 and followed part of his post-graduation studies in microwave at the Instituto Tecnológico de Aeronautica (ITA) in 2003. Since 2010, he is working as microwave engineer at the European Space Research and Technology Centre (ESA/ESTEC) in Noordwijk, The Netherlands and currently pursuing his Ph.D. in Electromagnetism at the Sapienza Università di Roma, Italy. His research projects and interests include the study of ultra high-Q factor resonators based on photonic crystals for oscillator application in the millimetre-wave band and metamaterial structures with absorbing properties in the electromagnetic spectrum.
