Selection 2024
Rational
I joined Level 3, as I wanted to expand my knowledge and skills in Performing Arts. I used various techniques from devising companies such as DV8 and Frantic Assembly. This included chair duets/choreo and breaking the fourth wall. I used these techniques to portray a better story, as my skills were lacking in that area. I improved the most in vocal projection throughout this year, as I can now be heard more clearly in scenes, in contrast to the start of the year. I have received feedback that I need to work on posture/body language, thus will focus on this during the next project.
Concept
Our Unit 8 Project will be a showcase, named “Selection 2024”, which will be a variety show, which includes a group dance, an ensemble song, and I will be performing a duet as well as a duologue, and other performers will be doing similar. This arrangement of the show will show our skills as performers, as it will be a multitude of different styles.
My aims are to:
Research the health aspects including vocal and physical health, and how to improve these.
How being a performer can impact mental health, positively and negatively. This can include researching meditation techniques.
Why maintaining strong physical and vocal health within the industry can be positively impactful
I have chosen to research this, as I believe it’s a very important, and under-looked part of the industry.
My aims for my performance skills are:
Enhancing my acting through song has been a significant challenge for me throughout the year. I tend to remain motionless or simply sway while singing, but I need to incorporate more physicality into my performances. Also, to make my performance better, it's crucial that I understand the context of my pieces fully, allowing me to convey the intended message effectively to the audience.
Evaluation
Throughout Selection 2024, I will evaluate my process throughout by:
Taking videos
Write Notes
Apply feedback effectively
Exercise good team work skills
Discussing with Tutors what needs working on
And ask for peer feedback on a regular basis, to make sure my performance is as good as it can be.
