UNDERSTANDING THE JUDGING PROCESS

At the science fair, learners projects are assessed in 3 ways: the originality and value of their project, their written scientific report and an oral interview.

The value of the project ( /50)

Follow the red arrow labelled 1 to grade the extent to which the learner has taken their project. Once you have selected a row, its time to choose a column. Follow the red arrow labelled 2 to grade the originality of the project. The intersection of the two, is the score you will accord the learner for this section.

the written communication ( /30)

In this section, the written scientific report is assessed.

the interview ( /20)

Learners must be able to communicate their findings when asked about their project, this section assesses this ability.
