Kyung Ha conduct coastal samplings and establish monoclonal cultures. She pretty much focus on Dinoflagellates, Cryptophytes, and Prasinophytes because they are three major red-tide causative species excluding diatoms. The left pic is sampling ciliates on Sunday for Biecheleria cincta (Woloszynskia cincta) predation experiment.
20-30 micro-meter size naked ciliate, Strobilidium sp. is abundant in Shiwha Bay during early spring season (still cold water and ciliates like it)! She knows very well about the plankton composition in Shiwha Bay because she investigated environmental changes (dike construction, shallow water depth, ...) and plankton responses in Shiwha Bay at more than 20 stations every months during 2009 to 2013 (see Kang et al. 2013).
She worked weekends without resting during her MS and Ph.D. It could sounds too hard, boring, or nerdy but she really enjoyed her research and fully focusing on her works!
