I created this hand-built sculpture using Cavendish clay. The piece was sculpted, hollowed, detailed, and then burnished. This piece is inspired by humanity's natural tendency of allowing our own thoughts to consume us. This sculpture is a reminder to myself to not fall into a spiral of self doubt, and to continue to not confine ideas of my own identity to society's standards.
I created this hand-built sculpture using SPFG clay. The sculpture was closely based upon the anatomy of the human skull. This is seen in the glazed side's ridges and indentations of the orbital and zygomatic bones. This piece was given an oxide brushing to enhance the texture and depth of the clay. I was inspired to create this piece by my fascination with the biological structures of our bodies, and how no matter the person we all have the same internal infrastructures.
