1. To support and advocate for effective alcohol, tobacco and other substance use/misuse prevention strategies, resources and programs.

2. To promote collaboration among prevention professionals, volunteers, community members and others in the interest of healthy lifestyles.

3. To enhance the image of prevention as a viable strategy to reduce substance use/misuse.

4. To advocate for upstream prevention practices and evidence informed strategies throughout Kentucky.

The Kentucky Prevention Network was established in 2000 as an informal network for prevention professionals to network and gain prevention training hours. Since 2008, the KPN board has sponsored and planned an annual Prevention Conference, and incorporated formally in 2013. KPN also planned a Spring Training based on feedback from the Conference. Historically, the Spring Training would feature a speaker who would deliver training in several different locations across the state. Since, 2020 due to COVID-19 the Spring Training has transitioned to an online training series in order to continue providing high quality prevention training opportunities to prevention professionals across the state.
