Letterpress Coffee Shop and Roastery
Letterpress Coffee Shop and Roastery
The Letterpress Coffee Shop and Roastery is a mock venture of a restorative project of a 1920s abandoned letterpress in the heart of downtown Baton Rouge. The goal of the project was to take the vacant structure and turn it into a third place that could be enjoyed by Baton Rouge locals and visitors. The project worked through the process of precedent and ethnographic studies of coffee shops, and finished with a final floorplan and sections created in AutoCAD, as well as a Photoshop rendering. For this project, I decided to create a space to relax in the present and work towards the future, while enjoying the beauty of the past. The history of the building fascinated me, and was not something I desired to abandon, therefore the design of the coffeeshop was highly inspired by the glitz and glamour of 1920's Art Deco styling.
