3D Movement
3D Movement
The goal of this project was to create abstract movement through 3D modeling. The process started with taking cut images of an action and then taking the reel and sketching the observed movement. From there, the sketches were experimented with and combined digitally into one figure. After that, three combined sketches were chosen and were hand modeled into possible drafts for the 3D print. In the end, I chose to go with the movement of flowing hands to create spindles of movement on an escalating bow shaped model. I wanted the flow of the hands and their interconnection to be displayed and added to the 3D piece string between the growing spindles out of the bows. I printed several smaller figures as well as one large one (around ten inches long and ten inches tall at the peak). Instead of choosing just one for the final piece, I decided to combine them all to create a larger sense of movement between the smaller figures and the larger. Additionally I added again string leading from the smaller left figure to the right, to create a sensation of the smaller reaching out to the larger, or a tethering between the two.
