Cultivate a supportive work environment
Be willing to have more open communication styles be willing to have people help you and try to help others. This will cause people to see you as a person that there for them and will help others. encourage peer support, tell a person good job or congratulate them on something they did to show support.
Have self-care
It is supper important to have some sort of self-care. having a job in the medical field can be stressful so finding a way to manage it or having a way to deal with excess stress is something you're going to want. this could be anything, for example mine would be the gym, it's a place I can go to and mitigate stress.
Boundaries
Boundaries sound bad but are a necessary thing a person need this could be limiting work to only when you're working or learning to say no when overwhelmed. its important to have a good life to work balance to not be overwhelmed and stress you.
Emotional awareness
having emotional awareness in a place that take scare of people is always a good skill. knowing when it's time to explain something or just stay quiet is something that will make you a good doctor. being able to be there for support is something people find comfort in, being able to tell a patient what's wrong with them and be able to explain to them that we can do to help.
Control
having control of variables that might go off is important some of the things we can do to mitigate uncontrolled variables is a sharps bin or a biological safety cabinet to dispose safely of used or broken sharps, and or biological materials. another way to have control especially in a surgical room is to make sure the room still has its negative pressure. this is important to have so there is do dead air in the room everything is filtering out of the room.
PPE
personal protective equipment is the number one thing you need to make sure you're safe if something bad happens. typically, you would have scrubs, gown, glasses, face shield, mask, gloves, and shoe covers. all these things help protect you from what you might run into in a hospital like, bodily fluids and or germs and virus.
Safety in the workplace
Its important to be safe, dispose of things properly wear proper protection and do not mess around. some other things that should be known is what to do during a power outage, or a fire, how do you manage your role during an emergency. this is important to know about and what the proper practices are for your specific hospital.
Proper cleaning
hospitals are the cleanest and also dirtiest places a person can go. clean as in they set up sterile equipment to do surgeries, but also dirty in ways because of disease is spread here. that is why it's important to be as clean as possible cleaning up after people and sticking to regulations. setting up a sterile location is also important to decrease the risk surgical cite infections after surgery. it is important to inspect your tools and be able to send them back if a label is not checked.
