Kyla Surajbali (she/her/hers) is an early career music educator from Long Island, New York. She holds a full-time position at Hommocks Middle School in the Mamaroneck School District, where she teaches general music and electronic music courses, and is the vocal technician for their musical productions. Her other engagements in Westchester include directing the Junior Voices ensemble at the Hoff-Barthelson Music School and working with the Westchester Children’s Chorus as social media chair and conducting apprentice.
Kyla graduated summa cum laude from Hofstra University with a B.S. in Music Education, where she sang with the Chorale and Chamber Choir and served as the ensemble manager. A past president of the Hofstra chapter of the American Choral Directors Association, Kyla is continuing service on the New York ACDA board as social media manager. She pursues her love for singing as a member of the eVoco Voice Collective under the direction of Dr. David Fryling. Kyla is Filipino and Guyanese, and her professional teaching goals include affirming her students’ cultural identities through music.
