A couple of days ago, I stumbled upon this free app on the Google Play Store. "Learn Ethical Hacking Hacker X". The app's intention was to teach hacking skills to inexperienced people in the field of hacking for ethical reasons. I myself hold no experience in hacking, so this app is made for people especially like me. I downloaded the app, and started it up and took a look. There are a total of 20 classes corresponding to each section of hacking. As of today, I have completed the first six classes, and here is what I think of the app, and whether you should try it too.

So far, I have completed these 6 classes. I started as a complete beginner, not knowing much about hacking, to becoming able to hack social media accounts. I do not condone malicious hacking, the topics learned from this app is for ethical reasons only.
So starting off, the first class was "Know the OS". It teaches the basics of this operating system for hackers, called Kali Linux. Kali Linux is a version of Linux based off of Debian, a distribution of Linux. Why Hacker X opted for Kali is because Kali is made specially for hackers to test the security of networks. Therefore, Kali is loaded with tools for hacking, and sort them according to the stages of hacking, which are convenient for hackers starting off. The class taught the basics of navigating around the operating system and some basic must-know commands.
After I was familiar with the basics of Kali, I moved on to "Hack the MAC". Which teaches about MAC addresses and their functions, and why it's important. The app then taught the main point of the class, how to hack the MAC, which was more simpler than it seems. Just like that, I learned to change my device's MAC address and impersonate other computers.

I then learned on the next class, how to gather information about a target, which gave several sources and tools to use in order to gain data on a target. The app also stated the importance of gaining information and what the information of the target will be used for.
Next up, there is surfing anonymously. It is more crucial than it really sounds if you are not aware what goes on when you surf the internet. The app demonstrates this by showing you what kind of information gets leaked onto the internet when you browse the internet. After it shows what gets leaked onto the internet, the app then teaches you how to secure your identity online and browse anonymously, as well as showing the results of doing so.

Second last lesson I completed as of today was Hiding Messages. This lesson introduced me to steganography, which was the art of hiding messages in certain normal-looking mediums, but not encrypting them, which separates this from cryptography. This class was important as it shows how to communicate in secrecy while looking normal and inconspicuous.
Last of all, I completed Social Media Hacking. Which taught me an attack method: phishing. Hacker X teaches about how social media accounts get hacked through social engineering and the different kinds of phishing attacks. Then the app proceeded to teach how to launch a phishing attack myself, I used ZPhisher for the practical. After completing this class, I learned how to easily prevent these types of attacks from being carried out successfully.
Personally for me, the classes were incredibly beginner friendly. The creators considered the lack of basic experience and knowledge, and included everything that someone who wants to learn ethical hacking would need in order to learn ethical hacking. I started from not knowing anything to being able to launch a phishing attack within 2 days of learning from Hacker X, so I definitely would suggest this app for those who want to get into ethical hacking, but has no experience or knowledge in doing so. However, as easy as the app makes learning hacking, I underwent some struggle when installing Kali since installing dual boot is a new thing for me, and Hacker X used a virtual machine instead. That was the only obstacle that I encountered, but overcame in the end, and I made it to where I am now.
