"Recipe for Mochi" is the title of my second original comic, and this is the cover page for it. It is a story about my original character Mochi, trying to make the dessert mochi.
"Around The World In 10 Slides" is the title of my debut original comic, and this is the cover page for it. I created it from May to June of 2024, and it was a personal project that I used to help me refine my children's book illustration skills. The following drawings are taken from this comic.
This drawing is taken from my comic "Around The World In 10 Slides". Illustrating the crumples in the plastic slide proved to be challenging, but it was a skill that I learned throughout the process of completing the drawing and am glad that I did.
A page from my comic, "Water Slide" was my first official attempt at illustrating water in motion. This drawing it taught me how to use multiple layers of varying textures to convey the illusion of rushing water.
Mochi and Graham are sliding down an icy mountain in this piece. The mountains in the background were the most challenging to illustrate, but in the end, I believe I drew them well.
In another slide from my comic, Graham and Mochi venture through the springtime cherry blossoms that are for some reason floating on clouds. This slide was very fun to illustrate and helped me experiment with drawing spring foliage and blurring items in the distance.
This muddy slide tested my patience with illustrating rain. However, it paid off in the final product and I am very pleased with my work and the splashes of water throughout the drawing.
This drawing was very nostalgic to make. I drew from experiences I had on the playground as a kid, and aimed to capture that innocence and appreciation for the world.
After looking at reference images of what Autumn was like in Canada, I was inspired to draw the scenery for myself. This piece is incorporated into my comic and showcases my ability to draw shadows and fall foliage.
This drawing is taken from my comic titled "Around The World In 10 Slides" and is the first time I have added dialogue to one of my illustrations. In this scene, Graham is asking Mochi a question, and Graham is confused by the answer. This piece challenged me to draw varying facial expressions on young characters while maintaining their recognizability.
This is the final scene from my comic "Around The World In 10 Slides". In it, Mochi explains the punch line to the joke he started in the previous image. Soon, I aim to have this comic, as well as other projects, published in children's books. I believe my art style is synonymous with that of a children's book illustrator and comic book artist.
