Pennsic Panic T-Tunic
2019
2019
Registering for Pennsic this year when I only had one Viking kit and a makeshift Bog dress to my name was a little nerve racking. I definitely felt like a true SCAdian as I was panic sewing and scribing for the week before my arrival on site.
The neck hole on my first tunic was exactly centered from font to back, causing me to choke every time I wear it. I was excited to have a second t-tunic so I can fix the first one and not be out of luck for an event due to my lack of garb. I found this tutorial which has the great idea of sewing the neckline before cutting it! This worked like a charm. I was terrified to surge edges after that, so I essentially made the entire neckline into a huge button hole.Â
Linen scares me that way.
I'm super happy with how this turned out. I can actually roll the sleeves up to wash my hands, and I'm not struggling to breathe while wearing it. I need to get a closure for the top, and next time the hole itself will be a bit smaller, but this is SO much more comfortable.
I also didn't own a bag, so I made one quickly out of what I had left of this fabric. Sebastian, my dog, was kind enough to model this for me.
