ENGL 102 World Literature II with Dr. Colleen Clemens
This course introduces students to the many voices of writers outside of the traditional Western canon. During this course, students will be asked to think critically about the intersections of colonization and literatures. Does not require having had ENGL 101. Satisfies Gen Ed Category B.
INTL 010 Introduction to International Studies with Dr. Andrew Vogel
Students will examine and analyze contemporary world issues and events. Topics include global interdependence, the environment, modernization, intercultural understanding, nationalism, and international conflict and cooperation. This course is required for the International Studies minor. Satisfies Gen Ed B.
WINTER 2026 PROGRAM INSTRUCTORS
Dr. Colleen Clemens is a faculty member in English and is the Director of Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies at KU. Her area of expertise is Non-Western and Postcolonial Literatures. Dr. Clemens has traveled extensively around the world and is multilingual.
Dr. Andrew Vogel is a faculty member in English and is the Director of the KU Honors Program. His expertise is in poetry and travel writing. Dr. Vogel also speaks Irish and has led study in Ireland for several years.
DIRECTOR
Dr. Derek Mace, Director of KU's London Study Abroad Program, since 2014, teaches courses in Sensation and Perception, Experimental Psychology and Learning Motivation and Emotion. His global winding number was 0, then 1 and now it's 0 again.
PAST PROGRAM INSTRUCTORS
Dr. Brenda Muzeta, Department of Secondary Education. Dr. Muzeta takes a broad interest in issues pertaining to language, culture, identity, social justice, and equity in education.
Professor Jeff Voccola, Department of English. Professor Voccola is an essayist and award-winning novelist. His pedagogy focuses on writing and editing.
Dr. James Jackson is a member of the psychology faculty at KU with expertise in Gerontological Cognition. He's traveled widely in Asia and Africa and has studied at the University of Ghana in Accra.
Dr. Andrew Vogel is a faculty member in English with expertise in poetry. Dr. Vogel speaks Irish and has led study in Ireland for several years.
Dr. Karise Mace is a Mathematician and Education specialist. She's traveled much of Europe and can explain the tessellations at the Alhambra.
Dr. Lisa Frye is a pedagogist and sports fan with expertise in Computer Network security. As Chair of Computer Science she teaches both undergraduate and graduate courses.
Dr. Kristin Bremer teaches political science. Her knowledge of British Monarchy and Parliament is unrivaled.
Dr. Erin Kraal , from the Physics Department, is an interplanetary scientist studying Martian surface processes. She also teaches popular courses on interplanetary travel and women in astronomy.
Dr. Andrew Arnold teaches in the History Department and is an expert on coal, organized labor and industrialization.
