We, the students of the English Department, performed selected scenes from Mahesh Dattani’s Final Solutions. The drama workshop was conducted by Alpa Ma’am Ponda, and it was truly an amazing experience.
After a short audition, Ma’am distributed the characters among us. Unfortunately, I was not present during the selection, but just a day before the final performance, I got an unexpected opportunity. Due to my audition performance and my keen interest in acting, Ma’am gave me a chance to participate.
I performed the character of Daksha. The entire scene belonged to me—it was a monologue of Daksha.
This performance of "Long Day's Journey into Night" is a student production and some creative liberties are taken, including changes in dialogues, interpretations, and adaptations. While every effort has been made to honor the spirit of Eugene O'Neill's work, it may deviate from professional productions. These alterations are part of our students' artistic exploration. During the Youth Festival, we presented a skit prepared by Alpa Ma’am. The performance was a reflection of pressing social issues, and being a part of it was a truly enriching experience. Participating in such events is incredibly important as it not only enhances our creative and acting skills but also builds confidence, teamwork, and awareness of social concerns. It provides a platform to express ideas, engage with audiences, and develop a deeper understanding of the themes we portray. These experiences go beyond the stage, shaping our perspectives and strengthening our ability to communicate effectively.
