Grant of Probate
Dealing with a loved one's estate depends on whether they left a valid Will.
1. Grant of Probate (With a Will) If the deceased left a valid Will, the Executor named in that Will may apply for a Grant of Probate. This legal document authorizes the Executor to manage and distribute the estate according to the deceased's wishes.
2. Letter of Administration (Without a Will) If the deceased did not leave a Will (Intestacy), or if the Will is deemed invalid, the immediate family members must apply to the High Court for a Letter of Administration to manage the estate.
