Working With Kitty

Colleagues' Words...

"Over the last five years, I have been fortunate to work closely with Kitty Tripp on a number of occasions. This passionate educator is diligent in her pursuit of academic excellence and in helping our students achieve the same success. The best part of working with Ms. Tripp is her ability to help me conceptualize the role of technology in my teaching. It would have been easy for her to allow her knowledge of technology to overwhelm the concepts I was trying to teach. Instead, she gave me space to express my goals and helped me learn to shape the technology to meet those goals. This quality was put on display as she helped me teach students to develop their own podcasts. While the podcasts were relatively simple and straightforward, she explained the value of uploading them to student-created websites. In this way, the students became keenly aware of their audience in a digital environment they were both familiar with and aware of its reach." --Dr. Andrew C., ELA professor

"Kitty is an innovative and creative teacher and a natural leader. Staff are frequently at her door, emailing, or calling her for assistance. She's able to quickly and diplomatically redirect those with basic questions to her plethora of well organized resources and then allocate her time to those with collaborative teaching requests. Her creative use of technology and storytelling in teaching and learning is truly masterful. As a consummate professional and life-long learner, she is ALWAYS looking for ways to improve her skill sets and better engage her learners. I attended Kitty's frequent presentations at the Upstate Technology Conference and the SC Assoc of School Librarians annual conferences from 2012-2016. Her sessions were always chock full of great ideas and resources that I could immediately put into use. Those promoting the utilization of social media to share classroom stories out to the community and connect to PLN's were highly regarded and at the time forward thinking. In 2018, I was thrilled to learn she was to become our new innovation coach. She has expertly lead our staff and students to engage in teaching and learning via continuously innovative and creative uses of technology." --Kathy C., Media Specialist
