Dedicated by the Texas Gamma Chapter in 1968, as a replacement of the original pyramid, the new pyramid serves as both a Sigma Tau and monument and a base for a Tau Beta Pi Bent. This is very similar to the situation at the University of Wyoming, where the Omega chapter's pyramid was replaced by a Bent, and two plaques were transferred from the old monument to the current one. Note that the original benches remain.
In 1956, Alpha Zeta Chapter at Rice University presented their university with a monument distinguished both for its design and its location on the campus. The ambitious project included not only the monument itself but its setting in a pond and reflective basin in the form of an eight-pointed star. Built of reinforced concrete, carefully aged to bring out maximum strength, it embodies the rail section and the letters Sigma and Tau. The location at the corner of the cloisters between Abercrombie Laboratory and the Mechanical Laboratory gives it a prominent place on the engineering campus.
