The core values of the PEGS program are volunteering, cultural competency, and leadership. We are a specialized honors cohort that encourages students of all majors and backgrounds to connect with their communities through leadership and volunteerism.
All first-year students go on a study abroad trip to Costa Rica every spring. The goal of the journey is not only cultural immersion and study but also volunteering with local organizations.
All second-year students participate in a study abroad trip to a designated country in the European Union. Their travels will coordinate with studying conflict resolution, leadership, and civil unity.
During the cohort's study abroad trips, students participate in volunteer efforts with a variety of organizations. Kennesaw State maintains a solid relationship with the Obras del Espiritu Santo in Costa Rica. Students volunteer with the organization every year. On a local level, the RSO facilitates volunteer efforts around North Georgia.
Through field trips and research, students in the cohort learn cultural immersion through firsthand learning. This value allows students to connect with the world around them, fostering a sense of unity.
Through ecotourism, PEGS students have the opportunity to learn from locals about the environment around them. This includes participation in environmental restoration and conservation efforts.
