Dragonrider Series

Dragon's aren't your typical animal here; they're much bigger and much smarter than humans. The country of Centralia has managed to coexist with them, but there's nothing easy about it. Tension and disdain are prevalent among both sides.

Enter Kaylyn Madara, a young girl running away from home. When an encounter with a dragon lands her with the responsibility of hatching a dragon egg, her future becomes significantly more complicated. Not only does she have to figure out who she is, she has to do it under the scrutiny of the country's most powerful, most respected people, as well as everyone else, not to mention the dragons, and one particular dragon that she's going to be tied to forever.

“Where do you want me to take the egg? Where would I find other dragons?”

“Not other dragons.” Her gaze never left mine. “You must raise my young one.”

I looked up at him, troubled. “You really think they’re going to start another war?”

“I do,” Raz said quietly. “I don’t know how soon, but we need to be ready.”

Over the years since peace was brought between dragons and humans, there have been more Dragonriders, but the political landscape has changed. Now there is the Dragon Council of Elders who are in charge of anything political in regards to dragons and the humans tied to them, and they're being anything but fair.  They're also partially in charge of picking new Dragonriders, and while they have to follow the rules, they're also willing to bend them.

Seyda Yorkson is everything the Elders want; noble, wealthy, from an old and well-respected line. Having her as a Dragonrider would increase their prestige and give them the opportunity to widen their political circle.  While Seyda does get in fairly and honestly, there are many who believe her heritage was what secured her place among the new set of Dragonriders, and they resent her for it. As Seyda struggles to earn her place, she uncovers a name and a secret that none of the senior Dragonriders want to talk about. This secret has damaged the trust between dragons and humans, and it's up to Seyda to patch things between the two groups, because any sign of weakness will be exploited by Centralia's enemies, and war is always looming on the horizon.

“With bronze Dragonriders, there’s…a spark. The bronzes have something extra somehow that makes their Dragonrider be able to do things that other Dragonriders can’t do. You can see the spark with Erik and Firestar. They’re close and they’re dependent on each other. I’ve looked at you and Windsong, and I can’t see the spark.”

Dragon's Lady - Seyda's Story 1

I gripped the straps of my pack. “I need my sword back if I’m going to deal with them.”

She looked at me. “So eager to run into battle?”

“That’s where my dragon is. Where else would I go?”
