Project Description

This project explores how social media has evolved from connecting people we know to showing content based on our interests and online behavior. It examines how algorithms influence what we see online and ow that impacts our attention, information exposure, and digital experience.

Social Media Addiction Survey Results

My survey results showed that I am FAIRLY RELIANT on social media. While I was not completely surprised, I did not realize how often I check social media throughout the day. The results made me more aware of how much time I spend on the apps and how it has become apart of my daily routine. This project encouraged me to think about my social media habits and how they may affect my attention and productivity.

Interesting Social Media Statistic

I chose the statistic about social media use by gender, race, and ethnicity because it shows how different groups use social media platforms in different ways. I was interested to learn that woman are more likely to use Instagram than men and that Instagram use is higher among Hispanic, Asian, and Black adults than among White adults. This statistic relates and it made me think about how social media habits can vary among different groups of people. It also helped me understand how social media platforms reach and influence diverse audiences.

Social Media's Impact on Society

I beleive the ideal use of social media is to enhance comunication, learning, and the sharing of information while maintaining a healthy balance. It can help people stay connected with family and friends, explore new ideas, and access news quickly and conveniently. While social media offers many benefits, it can also be distracting, affect mental health, and contribute to spread of misinformation. Its impact on society is significant because it influences public opinion, shapes cultural trends, supports social movements and affects how people interact with one another.

Lesson Learned

This project taught me a lot about the impact of social media on people's lives. I learned that social media platforms use algorithms to decide what content users see, which can influence thoughts, interests, and behaviors. Completing the social media addiction survey helped me recognize my own social media habits and made me more aware of the amount of time I spend online. Overall, this project really made me understand both the postive and negative effects of social media and maintaining a healty balance.❤️
