Club Campestre Cozumel Hotspot (Closed)

(Environments: Forest, Urban)

This hotspot is no longer available to the public (since January 2021), but is included in the list Cozumel hotspots because of its historic significance (greatest diversity of reported bird species on the island) and popularity.

Presently, they are building condos on the former golf course property, and I am not aware of any future plans to re-open it as a public golf course.

Additional information on species and sighting frequencies from this site can be found on the eBird Overview, Bar Chart, and Illustrated Checklist pages.

If you are interested in birding in this area, you can also bird the along the main road surrounding the entrance to the golf course property (Entrada a Club de Campo Cozumel).  The diversity of species in this area, which is effectively the "end of the road" is surprising good (> 140 species observed; #13 on the island).  Also nearby is Playa Pública Punta Norte Pescadores.
