I have no good quality photos of myself, so here is a picture of my cat. I hope it suffices.
Introduction
Hello! My name is Ian Krusinski, though I've been given the nickname "Ski" by an old navy man who was my teacher at one point and it's stuck. The narrative below is meant to function a small peek into who I am and what I intend to do with myself.
Current Career/Life Trajectory
The direction of my life is not too certain as of now in regards to where exactly I see myself, however despite this lack of specificity, one thing is very clear to me and is a core tenet guiding my actions; I want to do right people and somehow make a difference in this world, small or large. This attitude comes as result of the life I've lead, the way I grew up, the many interesting experiences I've had and the many interesting I've thus far in life.
Family
My family has a consistent connection to what I'll define simply as 'service'.
My parents both served in the United States Airforce, both functioning as Aviation Technicians, and one going further on to act in various Intelligence capacities and the other as a USAF Contractor. My Grandfather who I'm very close with is a Vietnam Veteran, retired Department of Public Works & Transport, and farmer.
Education
My education was a challenge due to various personal circumstances and struggles which I won't dive into, as well the Covid-19 Pandemic affecting my education, as it did many. However nonetheless I still put myself out there and tried the challenge myself. During my time at 'Leonardtown High School' I took some AP classes to get ahead, of which I passed all of the tests for with good or fantastic grades.
As well, I took the Engineering Program at the 'James Forrest Career & Technology Center' as I was and still am interested in the process of developing and creating things. I enjoy hands-on work and working through mechanical problems, however a disparity between how the class was presented, my expectations, and the actual curriculum itself led to me withdrawing from the 2 year course after just 1 year. However it's important to note that I excelled in the course, having been a top student and being one of few to being approached to further develop my personal project into a legitimate proven design.
Parallel to my studies at Leonardtown Highschool and the JFCTC, I was and still am volunteering at Lexington Park Volunteer Rescue Squad, which I joined in January of 2023. Through the Rescue Squad, I acquired my EMT (Emergency Medical Technician) certification in May of 2024. It was an interesting challenge juggling High School, the Tech Center, and EMT Class, and I am proud that I managed to get through it.
Personal Pursuits & Interests
I've found that Emergency Medicine is a field of work I really resonate with and feel fulfilled in pursuing. This for similar reasons as for why I pursued engineering at one point; The experience of being presented with problems that you have to solve is a challenge I appreciate and enjoy trying to work through.
Since I was 15, I've been teaching myself German through various online sources and apps, and after graduating I still try to keep up with maintaining knowledge so it doesn't fade, such as the "use it or lost it" phrase goes.
My first vehicle was a beat up old 1999 Dodge Dakota with a Manual Transmission, which meant I learned how to fix various issues, big and small. This taught me valuables skills in project management as I had to manage finances, scheduling, and scope. I still drive this truck for errands and such as I feel an obligation to it somewhat after how many lucky misses I've in it, be it deer or other drivers .
I immensely value versatility, which is why I've worked to develop skills and such which allow me to be self-sufficient and independent of things which may hold me back or stagger me in moving forward with my life.
Closing
As I go through my life, one thing I know for certain is that I'd like to have a positive impact on the world. The avenue by which I will achieve this isn't so for certain however I'm always looking out for new ways I could achieve this goal.
