Core Beliefs

The Sisterhood of the Krokopeplos is not a religion, but a sisterhood of practice. However, there are some core beliefs that almost all Sisters share. If you have questions about any of these beliefs, you may want to discuss them with a spiritual companion.

• We affirm that joy is intrinsically valuable, and its pursuit is wise.

• We affirm that wisdom is intrinsically valuable, and its pursuit is joyful.

• We affirm that human senses and reason, while limited, provide valuable information about the true nature of things.

• We affirm that human senses and reason, while valuable, do not have access to the complete nature of things.

• We affirm that human beings, by their nature, adapt, grow, and learn.

• We affirm that we live in a difficult, chaotic, and often immoral culture, in which we are often forced to choose between bad options.

• We affirm the essential truth of biological evolution, that there is only one family tree on Earth, and all living beings are close kin.
