Brainspotting is a cutting edge offshoot of EMDR, developed by David Grand in 2003 when he discovered that some of his clients could access disturbing memories or feelings through body sensations when their eyes were settled on activation points. Brainspotting works well with almost anyone, but is more effective than EMDR with people who don't want to describe or relive old memories and want to work on how it feels now in their bodies.
Brainspotting is an advanced brain body technique for healing emotional trauma, anxiety, depression and PTSD. It addresses trauma stored in the body instead of in the mind. It is based on the premise that where you look, or your eye position correlates with deep seated emotional experiences that are typically unreachable by traditional talk therapy. We access these memory capsules to digest the trauma and let it move out of the body, relieving the core root of the trauma. If you have ever felt stuck in a rut, like you're holding on to old trauma or negative beliefs despite your best efforts to change, or if you have panic over certain triggers, Brainspotting might be the best therapy for you.
I offer short term, Brainspotting-specific therapy to create fast change. This can be done in conjunction with regular talk therapy (done by another therapist) or on its own.
Brainspotting can be done over telehealth. I will send you a link to set up instructions on your end. You will need a device to play music with headphones and another for the telehealth meeting itself.
