Oral English Certification Test

The CCE administers a test of spoken English that international graduate students take to obtain certification to teach. This test also functions as a placement test for ENGL 180: "English for Teaching Purposes." My administrative duties with regard to the OECT have included:

• Scheduling tests:

  • Setting up test registration

  • Coordinating with raters to determine test dates

  • Communicating with test takers to schedule individual tests

  • Organizing test items and materials and sending them to raters before the test

• Proctoring tests:

  • Checking students in and distributing test materials

  • Monitoring the test preparation room

  • Troubleshooting the online scoring system

  • Downloading and storing video and audio records of tests

• Recordkeeping

• Training Raters

  • Compiling rater training materials

  • Scheduling a week-long retreat for rater trainees
