My primary research interests are nonlinear continuum mechanics and its multiphysics coupling. I have worked on magnetic-field-driven phase transformation (magnetic shape memory alloys), magneto-caloric effect, active soft materials (magnetoactive polymers, photo-sensitive liquid crystal polymers), biomechanics, and energy materials. I enjoy the theory and have fun developing new constitutive responses for such material systems. I also conduct (limited) experiments to understand the fundamental coupling behaviors that help to develop the constitutive responses. Finally, I like solving coupled boundary-value problems by implementing the developed constitutive responses in FE to understand the system-level behavior of specific smart materials.
