In the second semester of my Master’s programme, I contributed to the performance of Long Day’s Journey into Night by personally writing the script for Act II, Scene II and Act III. Through this work, I aimed to capture the emotional depth, complex character dynamics, and central themes of the original play, making it suitable and impactful for stage performance.
This experience enhanced my understanding of dramatic structure, character development, and dialogue writing. It also helped me develop creative adaptation skills and a deeper appreciation of stage performance and textual interpretation.
This creative letter was written as part of a class activity based on the works of Jonathan Swift, included in our syllabus. The task, assigned by Parakruti Madam, encouraged us to engage imaginatively with Swift’s style and ideas. Through this letter, I explored his use of satire while reflecting on the importance of simplicity in language.
