How did you get into graffiti?
I started noticing graffiti when I moved to Narangba in Brisbane. I was curious and thought it was cool. My cousin Ebony was dating a guy from RFW crew and showed me some techniques. That was in 2005
How did you come to bhakti?
Interestingly it was Ebony's father - my uncle Paul who inspired me. He had just got back from India with a shaved head and tuft at the back. I thought it was a bit weird, especially because he said he wanted to be a monk which meant being celibate. Then I tried a dhal he had made using some recipe he got from India and it blew my mind. I literally became open minded in that moment. I was a fussy eater too. Something just got turned on inside me. We all started going to the Hare Krishan restaurant and I started volunteering.
The owner was a counsellor and my mum reached out to him for support because her and I would fight a lot. I was 16 at this time. He asked me if I could help him with an art project and in the course of helping him I became super intrigued by Krishna consciousness. I started calling myself a Hare Krishna when he drew the whole cosmos according to the vedas on a piece of paper for me.
I also started writing "Vedas" from that meeting.
Whats the philosophy of Krsna consciousness in a nut shell?
Do your duty and do it for Krishna.
How has Krsna consciousness impacted your life?
I'm constantly in a state of transformation. I love my life.
I was definitely on a path toward being a drug addict and lonely, frustrated pervert.
I became a monk for 4 years and got trained in the ways of devotional life. That is the source of who I am today and I have a wife and a child on the way. That was probably not going to happen if Krsna consciousness didn't impact my life the way it did.
What would you say to someone interested in starting their practice?
Do it!
