KRIS FIELDS’ PLAN TO FLIP KATY ISD’S DEFICIT INTO A SURPLUS

🎯 GOAL:

Stop the bleeding. Cut the waste. Create new revenue. Protect students and teachers.

STEP 1: CUT UNNECESSARY COSTS (Without touching classrooms)

Energy Overhaul: Upgrade lighting, AC, and use solar where it makes sense.

Result: Lower utility bills = more money for classrooms.

Vendor Check: Renegotiate overpriced contracts.

Result: We keep more of our money.

STEP 2: BRING IN MONEY (Without raising taxes)

Rent School Facilities After Hours: Gyms, cafeterias, auditoriums.

Result: Easy money from events, sports leagues, etc.

Sponsorships & Ads: Buses, newsletters, sports events.

Result: Local businesses help fund our schools.

Evening Community Classes: Use schools for paid adult learning at night.

Result: Revenue + community engagement.

STEP 3: FREE SUPPORT FROM PARTNERS

Non-Profit & Corporation Partnerships: For tutoring, mentoring, mental health.

Result: They provide services, we save cash.

Adopt-a-School Program: Each school gets a sponsor.

Result: Donations, supplies, and volunteer help.
