3D shape recovery: Acquiring the three-dimensional (3D) shape of an object from its 2D images is a fundamental tasks in many computer vision applications. A variety of 3D shape recovery methods have been developed for recovering 3D structure using different cues such as focus, defocus, motion, texture, and stereo. Among them, image focus based optical methods are important due to their simplicity and they can further be divided into two categories, namely shape from defocus (SFD) and shape from focus (SFF).
