Choosing a bow can be really confusing, trust me!
I have put together this page in hopes of making your purchasing process just a bit easer.
Choosing a Bow Style
There are lots of bow styles to choose from! Now let's choose the one that is best for you.
There are five kinds of bows and their general descriptions below.
(1) Barebow
Usually not too many additional accessories.
Wonderful choice for anyone of any age! You can use these for fun or in competitions. They can run cheap ($120) or really expensive.
There are also (2) Longbows. These are one long peice of wood and a string. If you purchase a bow like this you cannot change the poundage.
(3) Olympic Recurve
The bow Coach Addy uses
This is the body of a barebow, but dressed up with accessories such as a sight, stabilizers, clicker etc.
This style of bow is beautiful and feels really wonderful to shoot. I highly recommend this round if you are interested in competitions.
These are the bows that they use in the Olympics. Anyone of any age can shoot this bow.
(4) Compound
Designed originally for hunting this bow can also be used in competitions. This bow is smaller so it is better for hunters. When drawing the string back there is a moment when it gets easier to pull then there is a stopping point.
Minimal takedown and setup
Accessories: sight/ scope, stabilizers etc
(5) Genesis
Used in many schools. It shoots very similar to the barebow, but is more compact in size like a compound. I only recommend this bow if you have a NASP program at your school.
Please do not purchase if you are 18+
After you choose your style of bow, it is necessary to purchase the correct accessories to go with your bow. If any of the equipment is unavailable please contact Addy and she will update the website and email you another option.
