Gene Expression in the Chromosomal Context
Histone modifications and nucleosome positioning play critical roles in altering chromatin accessibility, thus influencing gene expression. DNA methylation usually leads to gene repression.
Regulatory elements like promoters, enhancers, and silencers further modulate gene expression by providing binding sites for transcription machinery and altering transcription levels, often through chromatin looping mechanisms.
My project mainly focuses on the gene regulation by the Cell-homology Region (CHR) promoter.
