Uncovering the historic alleys of Neuroscience's growth in South Korea: A timelapse from the 17th century to date

Dr. Indranath Chatterjee and Ms. Videsha Bansal

Overview and Motivation

The first study of neuroscience in South Korea was conducted in the 17th century, and since then, it is a national priority [1]. People in South Korea are working just like any other country in all directions to contribute novel researches in the neuroscience community. Professors, PostDocs, and even the young researchers are into this field. Researchers in South Korea always focused on developing new methods to help people get better assistance during mental disorders. Even in this digitalization era, far eastern countries like South Korea are minimal due to language and participation barriers. The history of such places is not very famous as the one in Asia, Europe, and the US. One has to take the initiative to go around the country, meet different people, explore and bring the history of the 17th century on a global platform.

Our motive behind this project is to bring the contribution and growth of South Korea since the 17th century in the field of Neuroscience on a global and barrier-free platform.

Goals

1. Understanding the history of far eastern countries like South Korea in the field of neuroscience without any barrier.

2. Cover all the significant neuroscience research done in South Korea since the 17th century.

3. Cover the latest focus of young researchers in the field of Neuroscience.
