About the Project

The interest in neuroscience research in Korea dates back to the 17th century. The Korean government put neuroscience research a national priority. Hence, many Korean postdocs and students have been majorly involved in neuroscience work.

Since the 17th-century people of South Korea have been indulging in neuroscience research. In 1992, Chan Woong Park launched the first Korean Society for Neuroscience. There are some major Universities and Research Institutes that deal with neuroscience and behaviour study are, The Seoul National University-Seoul City, Korea University-Seoul City, Yonsei University- Seoul City, Korea Brain Research Institute-Daegu City, and Korea Institute of Science and Technology-Seoul City. Researchers and students are engaged in broad aspects of neuroscience, from basic to clinical studies to understanding brain diseases, and developing novel therapeutic technologies.

Perseverance and tenacity are the driving factors of Korean researchers’ ambitions. They consistently acquire new technologies in their work, evident from their productive research outcomes. Koreans, are currently interested in acquiring skills to develop, translate and commercialize their research findings.

What we have brought together?

In this project, we have brought together the history and current practices of Korean researchers, neurologists, neuroscientists, and professors. Along with the contribution made by South Korea in the field of neuroscience, we have also got interviews to highlight some personal experiences.
