当教会は、英国聖公会に連なる日本聖公会の教会です。

１８９３年ジェームズ・ハインド司祭により宣教され、

１８９８年、現在の地に教会が建てられました。

森鴎外の「小倉日記」に記述があり（クリックしますと詳細をご覧になれます）、ハインド司祭は鴎外と親交があったようです。

インマヌエルとは、聖書に記された「神は我々と共におられる」という意味の言葉です。

私たちはどんな時でも独りではなく、神さまにつながっていることを表しています。

This church is a church of the Anglican Episcopal Church in Japan, which is connected to the Anglican Church in England. It was preached by Priest James Hind in 1893, and in 1898 a church was built at its present location.

There is a description of this church in "Kokura Diary" by Ogai Mori, a representative Japanese novelist, and it seems that Priest Hind had a close relationship with Ogai.

Immanuel is a Bible word that means "God is with us." It shows that we are always connected to God, not alone.
