I am a professor at Department of Global Studies, School of International Studies, Kobe College, and a Professor Emeritus of Kobe University. My research interest is in the field of Applied Micro-Development Economics.

All lecture slide files are password-protected. If you registered only recently, ask me for the password.
All handouts will be distributed only once in class. If there is any handout left in the class, I will keep it in a drawer outside the door of the office of the School of International Studies so that you can pick it up later. If you don't find the one you are looking for, you need to download and print the file from the course web.
If you are absent from the class for a legitimate reason when I check attendance, you should report to me in the next class. You need to show me the proof of the reason for your absence. The proof can be informal such as a receipt from a hospital or a drugstore, and you just need to show me once.
I often use chapters from the introductory textbook on Economics written by Gregory Mankiw as reference. The title of the whole book is Principles of Economics, but it is translated into Japanese in many different editions such as マンキュー入門経済学 (Essentials), マンキュー経済学Iミクロ編 (Micro), マンキュー経済学IIマクロ編 (Macro). Chapters contained in each edition are summarized in a comparative table of contents. Note that Japanese translations further select chapters from the corresponding English editions.
In the fall semester, I will be teaching three courses and three seminars:
ID120(2) Clover Seminar Topic: Conflict and Cooperation in Human/ Animal Societies
W133(2) The World Economy Introductory Macroeconomics
E206-4b Global Business b Development Economics 1: Poverty, Inequality, Education, Health, and Population
E332-4b Topics in Global Business b Development Economics 2: Dual-economy model, Migration, Microfinance, and Foreign Aid
E398b Graduation Thesis Seminar I b
E497b Graduation Thesis Seminar II b
Here is the table of my lecture courses (revised in Oct. 2024), with changes in contents, course numbers, and titles over the academic years from 2023. If you are new to learning economics, please take introductory courses on microeconomics and macroeconomics first. Sorry for the confusion, but I did not know how my courses will be restructured over this transition period.
