FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Is Koin free?
Yes. Koin is completely free. There are no ads, no in-app purchases, no subscriptions, and no paywalled features.
Do I need an account?
No. Koin does not require login. Your data stays on your device.
Why are my prices not updating?
Koin throttles price refreshes to about every 30 seconds to stay within the data provider's free rate limit. If you pull to refresh too quickly, you will see a brief Just Refreshed message. Wait a moment and try again.
How is my cost basis calculated?
Koin uses the industry-standard average cost basis. When you sell, the realized profit or loss equals sell price minus average buy price at that moment, multiplied by the sold quantity. The remaining holdings continue with the same running average.
Can I record a sell at a price different from today's market price?
Yes. The price field in every transaction is editable. You can backdate the date too. The Now button quickly stamps the current time.
What does the AI Review do?
The AI Review tab sends a snapshot of your portfolio, including holdings, cost basis, recent transactions, and current prices, to an advanced AI model and shows a plain-language performance breakdown. You can use it up to 3 times per day. If your portfolio has not changed since the last review, Koin skips the request to avoid duplicate output.
Why was a review skipped?
Either you have already used all 3 daily reviews, or your holdings have not changed since the last review. Record a buy or sell to enable a new one.
How do I change my display currency?
Open Settings then Currency. Changing it will re-fetch all prices in the new currency.
Can I delete or edit a transaction?
Yes. Tap any portfolio holding to open its transaction ledger. Tap any individual transaction to edit it, or swipe left to delete it.
What happens if I delete the app?
All of your data is removed from your device. There is no backup on our servers because there are no servers.
Is my data shared with anyone?
Your watchlist, portfolio, and transactions stay on your device. The only data transmitted to third parties is anonymous price fetches to the market data provider, and a portfolio snapshot to the AI provider, only when you tap Run Review. See the Privacy Policy for full details.
Does Koin support iCloud sync?
Not yet. Your data lives only on the device where you added it.
Does Koin work offline?
You can view your last-known prices and edit your portfolio offline. Live price updates require an internet connection.
Does Koin support Apple Watch or widgets?
Not yet.

Is Koin available on Android?
No. Koin is iOS only.
Is Koin financial advice?
No. Koin is a personal tracking tool. Nothing in Koin, including AI Reviews, is financial advice. Prices are indicative and may be delayed. Always do your own research before making investment decisions.
