Knights of Columbus Founder to Be Beatified
Fr. Michael McGivney, who founded the Knights of Columbus in 1882, will take a step closer to sainthood on Saturday, October 31, 2020 at 11 a.m. when he will be beatified at the Cathedral of St. Joseph in Hartford, Conn.
Fr. McGivney saw the poverty and anti-Catholic bigotry that made life difficult for the American faithful in the 19th century. In response, Fr. McGivney created the fraternal charitable organization that would help the needy, bury the dead and keep men away from anti-Catholic secret societies.
Today there are about two million members of the Knights of Columbus around the world. Last year, they donated more than $185 million USD and 76 million volunteer hours, as knights lived out their principles of charity, unity, fraternity and patriotism.

I would also like to thank Brother Venant Ferreira for helping me to drop off the items at the Shelter.
Our donation was very graciously accepted.
May God bless your generosity and kindness for the homeless and less fortunate.
Dear Brother Knights,
We recently concluded a very successful Thanksgiving Food Drive last weekend.
Monetary and perishable food contributions came from our Brother Knights as well as our Parishioners.
I am pleased to announce that we collected an astounding 6202 Lbs of non-perishable food items which were donated to Eden Food for Change and monetary donations totalling $1620.00 - of which $ 1200.00 will be given to the Knights Table and $ 420.00 will be used to purchase personal hygiene items for the homeless at Cawthra Shelter (details of which will be conveyed later).
I would like to thank our Pastor, Fr. James Cherickal and Joanita Miranda for promoting this event at the announcements and Parish website.
I would also like to thank the following Brothers who so enthusiastically volunteered their services despite the gloomy and rainy weather.

A special mention here to :-Jestin and his wife Rani who travelled all the way to Niagara to handpick grapes from a farm - these was donated by our WFS Patrick Bajcar's brother.
