Welcome to Kodomo Dojo
A little about us ...
1. All coaches at Kodomo Dojo are suitably qualified.

Christine Robson is a Primary teacher with over 30 years experience. Christine is a Level 2 Coach. Additionally Christine has administration experience in Auckland Judo Association, having held positions as Sports Director, Secretary and President. Christine is currently Development Director for Auckland Judo Association, and is on the Sports Commission for Judo NZ. Christine is a 2 kyu. (blue belt)
Nick Robson is in his final year of business management degree at Massey University. He has previous coaching experience as a Football NZ coach, and is a 3 kyu (green belt), having turned his competitive focus from Judo to Football.
3. The duration of each judo school class is one hour. We have beginner classes who complete a Kiwi Judo programme, and then Junior and Intermediate sessions for those who are wanting to continue the Judo journey. We follow the teaching and grading syllabus of Judo NZ.
4. Safety is always our first priority and we plan accordingly with the activities and techniques taught in each session. Judo is a contact sport and injuries may occur, which is why we ask parents to complete a enrolment form and provide us with contact details.
5. Students do not need to wear judo suits (known as a gi) in the beginning. We have gi that new players can wear at a session, until the time is right to purchase a gi. A new gi is between $50.00 and $60.00, depending on the size.
6. Fees are payable in advance, at the beginning of a term. An invoice will be given to the student on the first session of the new term. There will be a payment for grading which will be invoiced with the appropriate term account.
7. If a student wishes to participate in competitions, or to have their grades officially registered and recognised by Judo NZ, there will be an annual fee to join Judo NZ.
8. Grading for lower level students are done twice a year, normally in the second and fourth term. Each successful student will get a certificate after each grading in recognition of their achievement. This is an in club grade. Players need to be registered with Judo NZ for an annual fee of $90.00 for grades to be officially recognised.
Please contact us if you have any questions. We hope the judo experience will be enriching for your child.
