Wild clay is any clay that is not commercially sourced.
Wild clay is naturally occurring clay that has just been dug up straight out of the earth, not mixed up from a recipe.
In its dry state, Wild Clay it may look like rocks. In its wet state, like mud.
Wild Clay can come in an array of colours, from pure white, to yellow, terracotta orange, red ochre to a deep burgundy brown.
Wild Clay is formed over thousands of years.
The process is continual, and clay exists in abundance all over the world.
Clay is a natural material that comes from the earth, usually from places where rivers once flowed.
Clay is made up of tiny bits of “everything” - minerals, plant particles, and animal matter.
Over millennia, water pressure breaks up these remains of minerals, flora, and fauna, resulting in very fine particles.
Larger particles are filtered out through sand and rocks, eventually leaving the silt to settle into beds of clay.
