The KnowledgeSeed Foundation
The KnowledgeSeed Foundation (KSF), originated in early 2021, during the COVID quarantines. During this time, we felt confined in what our minimal course load was allowing us to explore, and came together to form a group that would be able to create an impact beyond the walls of our homes. Beginning with the sole focus on providing education to underserved countries, those with the lowest literacy rates and access to education, we hosted book drives at local elementary and high schools. In these, we were able to donate over 3,000 books within 2 years through a partner organization, Books for Africa.
We later expanded our efforts to the local community, where we began hosting an educational reading program, LitExplorers, for the elementary students nearby, which aims to mitigate the upcoming generation's indifference to literature. In addition, we are now pursuing a prep books program called StudySwap, that allows students to donate used AP and SAT materials to students who may be taking that class that year. This way, not only would we be able to supplement those students' learning with additional materials, but also save these heavy books from becoming waste, after just few months of usage.
KSF is a multifaceted organization, aimed to promote education and sustainable living through the collection and distribution of literature and related materials.
Why KnowledgeSeed?
You may wonder: why should I donate to the KnowledgeSeed Foundation, as opposed to more common foundations such as Goodwill and Salvation Army? While these are great places to donate to, we are solely focused on the collection and distribution of books to those in need. We believe our focus on specific tasks differentiates us and ensures efficient operations.
In short, the books that you donate to us are sure to be centered around a specific cause: donating books to schools and communities in Africa.
How do we ship these books?
As of now, we are a small, student-run organization based in the US. Because of this, we do not have the funds or contacts to ship directly to schools and students in Africa; so, we have decided to partner up with another organization, Books For Africa. Through this partnership, we can send more books for cheaper prices, as we would only need to ship domestically.
We hope to overcome this barrier and become entirely self-sufficient, through increased funds. To donate to us and make the process independent, please consider visiting the "Donate" page on our website.
What countries do we ship to?
Through our partner, Books For Africa, our main shipments go to countries including Senegal, Liberia, Ghana, Nigeria, Botswana, South Africa, Congo, Uganda, and Somalia. See the full list here.
