On 10/7/24, I presented the Know 2 Numbers initiative program to the preschool parents to explain what the program entailed and the benefits of their child participating. At that time, a Google Form was sent to them to fill out for their permission for their child to participate and to collect the two phone numbers they wanted their child to use for the program. Twenty one parents gave permission. On 12/12/24, the 21 preschool students who were allowed to participate started to work one-on-one with a High School Child Lab Student Teacher. They used the “Cup Tapping” Teaching Activity in which the learner practices dial a phone by tapping the upside-down disposable drinking cups with a digit facing up that are arranged in the format of a phone keypad. This Teaching Activity was practiced three days a week for 12 weeks until 3/13/25. At the conclusion of the 12 weeks of learning and practicing how to dial the two phone numbers, the High School Student Teacher performed an assessment to see if the preschool student was able to dial one or both phone numbers without assistance. From this assessment, 62% of the 21 preschoolers that participated can dial at least one phone number from memory and 15% of the 62% can dial two phone numbers.
