Some are not new to Adoration and that is joyous. However, for those of you who have not spent time with our Lord in Adoration this is your opportunity to come closer to Him. Miracles happen in Adoration! For ages, many of the Saints have spoken on the blessings of Adoration. St Therese of Lisieux said: “Do you realize that Jesus is there in the tabernacle expressly for you – for you alone? He burns with the desire to come into your heart.” Pope St. John Paul II said: “Through adoration the Christian mysteriously contributes to the radical transformation of the world and to the sowing of the Gospel.” These are only a few short words about Adoration, but if you look to the Saints and Doctors of the church, you will see so many blessed examples of spending time with our Lord in Adoration. If there were still any doubt we should look to our spiritual father, St. Joseph. For he was the first Adorer of our Lord, the First protector of blessed Jesus Christ. Who better to take an example as the first Protector of our Lord.
For this exact reason we as Knights must come together and take after St. Joseph’s example. We must be in the presence of our Lord where he can reach our hearts and open them up to His love and mercy. The idea behind having an hour together as Brothers is to strengthen us as one. As one council, as one fraternity, as one family loving our great Father at the same time.
Corporate Communion is a tradition of the Knights of Columbus and is an opportunity for our council to demonstrate unity, charity and leadership in our parish. As a council, we will demonstrate unity by coming together as Brother Knights and families. Giving examples of Catholic families in our parish worshiping God as a family. As a council, we will demonstrate charity and leadership, by serving our God in the holy mass and revealing just how many Knights serve in our parish. This is in an effort to reveal to our parish and community that the Knights are here at Holy Apostles to give back to the God for all that He has blessed us with.
As Brothers, we must strive to fight together against the evils in the world. And what better way to do so than using one of our strongest weapons given to us. Monthly as Brothers and even family if they want, we gather before our business meeting and pray the Rosary together. We pray together as Brothers in Arms against all that would try to break us down and tear us away from Our Lord and Savior.
As a way to give back to our community, we put on Parish Breakfasts which all parishioners are invited to take part in and spend time bonding with each other in the Parish Hall. We do not charge for the meal we only ask that you come and enjoy time with your brothers and sisters in Christ.
Every year, during Lent the Knights support the Stations of the Cross at Holy Apostles. This is the time to support our parish and community during this most trying time. To help lead them in this solemn time of prayer and reflection.
Every year the Knights of our council support a sale of peaches and pears throughout the diocese. These fruit sales are from none other than Palisade Farms and are quite delicious. The proceeds from the sales go to help our council support the many charities and events in our council.
During the summer our council works with the Youth Ministry and parish community to put on Movie Nights for the community.
