2025 Executive Summary
Greetings from the Fr Francis Finnegan council #10976, Sussex WI!
2025 was again a very productive year for the council. We still remain primarily focused on supporting the St James parish. Events like the pancake breakfasts, Fall cleanup and Holly Days support are examples of this kind of support.
The ID drive, distributing tootsie rolls near Pick N Save and after masses during a weekend in May, was again very successful. Checks were distributed this time to both the Association for the Rights of Citizens with Handicaps (ARCH) and Rides and Reins.
We've also partnered more closely with the Christian Formation office and assisted with some lunches for the St James Older Adult Learning (SOAL) as well as First Communicants and Confirmation Candidates.
Sadly, we lost brother Knight and PGK Bob Meller in October at the age of 70. He was a good man and did many great things for the council, especially during his time as Grand Knight. May his soul and the souls of all the departed rest in peace.
Due to the efforts of all brother knights, the council earned the Star Council award. 2026 will surely be another great year! Â
Fraternally and in your service,
Eric Zunke, GK 10976
2025 Financial Summary
2025 Financial Secretary Update
Hello worthy gentlemen!
This is a quick rundown on the things financially accomplished by our small, but awesome council!
First, some of the ways we had income this year:
We supported two seminarians at $500 each, and received $200 back.
We received $693 back from the Council Charity grant from our raffle ticket sales.
Our St. Paddy Day breakfast raised $906! (Always a great draw, and fun event!)Â
Tootsie Roll sales this year raised $1,708 for the ID (Intellectual Disabilities) fund, which goes to help those with special needs.
Our October breakfast raised $625.
Our Holly Daze breakfast raised $1,694. This was split with the actual breakfast proceeds of $1,481 going right to St. James, and the donation proceeds of $213 going to our council. Another fun, and huge event!
And of course, the income from dues, which you will be getting a request for this year again coming to your mailbox soon. Please look for it, and we hope you will be with us again, even if it's only through this small amount that is required to maintain membership. Thanks ahead of time to you all!
Now some of the many ways we have helped others financially.
We do have our bills that need to be paid to both the Supreme and State councils of the Per Capita assessments for our membership, which is paid from your dues. Thanks, guys!
We do have a bill for our insurance to cover us, (just in case!), of $410 annually.
We supplied pizza for the SOAL program at St. James, and helped to serving it to our 55+ member of that group.
We donated flowers to the family of member Ken Meske who passed away last year.
We donated $100 to the state Special Olympics.
$290 was spent for Coats for Kids, and boy, I'm sure those families are grateful for it the way this winter is playing out!
Flowers from our council were sent for former GK Bob Meller's funeral. RIP my friend!
$150 was sent to Life's Connections, a terrific pregnancy resource center. As most of you know, their Waukesha center was devastated for the flooding this past summer.
$150 was donated to the local Waukesha County Chapter of WI Right to Life.
$150 was donated to Pro Life WI as part of our support for the Culture of Life fund.
$68 was donated to the Christian Formation department to pay for supplies for the Christmas poster contest, which we help judge, and also have our own little Christmas gathering. (Thanks GK Eric for covering those expenses, and tasty salami roll ups made by Steve Reek!)
$150 sent to Men of Christ to help with the expenses incurred with their inaugural Students for Life get together coming up this March.
We look forward to doing more fundraising this year, and continuing supporting many worthy causes. If you have even minimal time to help with any of these things, it's appreciated more than you know. Stay tuned for upcoming events through emails and the newsletter.
God Bless you all!
F.S. Tom Becker
