2024 Executive Summary

Greetings from the Fr Francis Finnegan council #10976, Sussex WI!

2024 was a very productive year for the council, being the first full year back after the Coronavirus pandemic hiatus.

The council retained some of its events from the past while also adding some new ones.  The council remains primarily focused on supporting the St James, Menomonee Falls parish.  Events like the pancake breakfasts, Fall cleanup and Holly Days support are examples of this kind of support.

This year the council also got into doing the ID drive by distributing tootsie rolls near Pick N Save and after masses during a weekend in May.  A check was distributed to the Association for the Rights of Citizens with Handicaps (ARCH) group from these proceeds.

New this year the council supported the Arise Milwaukee Catholic Ministry group at their Family Day in July and St John Bosco Youth Day in October.  Both events were very well organized and provided Catholic-focused activities for families and youth.  We intended to partner with them in the future.

Sadly, we lost brother Knight Joe Burki in April at the age of 98.  May his soul and the souls of all the departed rest in peace.

Due to the efforts of all brother knights, the council earned the Founder’s and Columbian award.  We were just 2 new members short of earning Star Council.  Sounds like an excellent goal for 2025!
