Sarah Davis has always wanted to design tools for the benefit of others. Her passion for problem-solving and desire to give back to her community led her to pursue a degree in electrical engineering.
How she helped us:
Sarah Davis handed those skills to us and gave us a presentation to show how we could present our project. She also talked to us on several project ideas and when we landed on one, she helped us form it into a solution.
Darrell Ross has a masters degree in electrical engineering. He works as a power systems analyst. When he moved to Seattle, he sought opportunities to teach math which led me to FIRST robotics programs and Swerve.
How he helped us:
Darrel has helped our team come up with multiple solutions. He pulled us out of a scientist's block. Once we had a pretty good idea of our solution, we presented our solution to him and we received good feedback and we made further improvements.
Ross is a principal software engineer.
Ross helped our team by giving us multiple ideas on how to execute our root game plan and on how to build our robot. He showed us how to organize our game plan and from there we created a document with all our ideas and plans. His feedback was valuable and very helpful when we showed him our robot, and we took most of his solutions and put our own spin on them.
Shawn McMannus is a network and systems engineer based in the Pacific Northwest. He studied engineering and robotics starting in high school and later computer science in college.
How he helped us:
Shawn helped our team by giving us a lending hand on how to create a model for our micro grid. He explained how an actual power grid worked and how we could turn some of those elements into a miniature working model. Afterwards, we were able to build upon his ideas and create a very cool model of our solution!
