2025 International HANARO Symposium
The 2025 International HANARO Symposium, organized jointly by the Korea Institute of Atomic Energy Research (KAERI) and the Korean Nuclear Society, was held from September 10‑12 at the Daejeon Convention Center. The event brought together researchers and industry users of neutron‑radiation facilities to showcase recent achievements with the HANARO reactor and to foster global collaboration. Over 15 countries and more than 50 foreign experts—including participants from Austria, Belgium, Australia, Japan and the United States—attended, and roughly 300 researchers presented 160 papers. The symposium was co‑hosted with the 7th International Conference on Nuclear Analysis Techniques and the 20th Japan-Korea Meeting on Neutron Science, providing a platform for advancing neutron‑science cooperation.
KAERI President Han Kyu Joo highlighted that HANARO’s successful operations had underpinned export projects such as the research‑reactor contract with Jordan and a forthcoming advanced‑reactor design agreement with the United States. He emphasized that the symposium marked a pivotal step toward opening a new 30‑year era of high‑level neutron‑facility use and international cooperation, and he expressed confidence that the achievements demonstrated at that event would continue to drive future research and collaboration.
